Link Cloaking For A Word Press Blog

Link Cloaking is a term used to conceal the true identity of a link. As I type this it sounds like it is coming from some sort of spy novel. But the truth is that link cloaking is a process of making your links look as short and as concise as possible.

Link Cloaking is basically when you show search engines one thing and humans another.

For those that are a bit unsure of what the term link cloaking is. Here is an example:

This is an Affiliate Link:

http://ff16bareq4-9-h8pk4v6o8wrbd.hop.clickbank.net/

As you can see…that at the end of this link are the words “clickbank” so most people online will recognize that this is a Affiliate Site or an Affiliate Offer.

Now a Link that is Cloaked and it looks like this: (this is the same site link)

http://leading-edge-marketing.com/product

Now you can see the difference. This link looks more professional and is easy to follow, while the readers do not know that it is an Affiliate Product, it gives the illusion that it is coming directly from my site.

In a nutshell that is the bases of Link Cloaking….without getting to technical.

I personally just like the look of a link that is short and seems more direct. But again this is a personal opinion.

There are a lot of article out there on why or why not to conceal your links. How to do Re-Directs and Link Masking but the bottom line that I would like you to know as you are just getting started is that if you chose to cloak any of your links and if you are using a WordPress Blog, there is a plugin that you can install that is so easy to work with and can achieve the results of a beautiful cloaked link.

Just go to your plugin link on your Dashboard once there click on “add new” type in “pretty link” you will then be redirected to the site to download and install. That’s it…then you can re-route all your links through this plugin.

I believe that this is one of the easiest ways to get the “Link-Cloaked” look that so many are paying good money for and you will be able to get this for Free….
